Friday 5- an idea for your family's weekend 📣🌟

Hi friends!

TGIF!
This weekend, we're headed to Nashville to visit our son, daughter-in-law, and our new granddaughter, Nelle. She's three weeks old, and we are over the moon for her!
Before I head out of town, I've got a little family challenge for you.

Your family is going to "Give-on-the-Go."
It's easy...and meaningful.

Simply choose one act of kindness from the list below to complete before Sunday night.

Did you know?
Researchers once gave people just a few dollars and asked them to spend it on themselves or on someone else. The people who spent the money on others reported a big boost in happiness and increased positivity.

Giving in small ways can have big results on the giver.

Why try this challenge?

  1. It lifts everyone’s mood. Giving helps kids experience the joy of being useful, thoughtful, and kind.
  2. It turns everyday errands and routines into connections. The grocery run, drive-thru, or drive to soccer practice becomes a chance to notice others.
  3. It builds generous kids. Kids learn kindness best when they get to practice it in real life.

The Give-on-the-Go Challenge

This weekend, choose one of these acts of kindness and let your kids help make it happen. Feeling ambitious? Choose two!

  1. Pay for the person behind you. Coffee, toll, fast food- small gesture, big smiles.
  2. Leave an extra “thank you” with a tip. Notice excellent service while you’re out and about this weekend. Leave an extra tip, a genuine compliment, or both.
  3. Buy one extra. While shopping, add crayons, diapers, canned goods, or snacks to your cart and drop them off where they’re needed.
  4. Call someone who would love to hear your voices. While you’re in the car, call a relative or family friend you haven’t seen in a while. Put them on speaker and let the kids lead. Prep them with a few simple questions: “What was the best part of your week?” “What did you like to do when you were my age?” “What is something you’re looking forward to?” Start with, “We called because we were thinking of you.”
  5. Try the $10 mission. Hand your child $10 and ask, “Who could we bless with this before the weekend is over?” Then make it happen.

Wrap it up with some reflection and conversation- “How did it feel to make someone’s day a little better?” "What are other ways we can help others and be generous?"

Cheering you on,
Dawn

Hi friends, As summer winds down, it's time to think about the new school year. Is your child feeling confident and ready? One of the best ways to help children feel confident is to teach them how to handle everyday social situations. When young people know how to introduce themselves, start and join conversations, show respect, and use good table manners, they're more comfortable- and that means they are confident and prepared. That's why I'm excited to offer Everyday Etiquette: Back to...
